                                                                      Cataloging migration
Are you still using Passport or CatME for cataloging? On May 1, 2005, OCLC will retire Passport for Cataloging. On July 1, 2005, CatME (English and Spanish interfaces), CJK and Arabic Cataloging will also be retired. Passport for Union Listing will be retired by September 2005. OCLC member libraries that perform their cataloging and/or union listing in these interfaces should plan to migrate to Connexion prior to these dates.

Study: Quality of school libraries connected to test scores

Students with access to well-stocked school libraries with professional librarians produce higher test scores, according to an Illinois study released last month to a group of students, teachers and parents at Glen Crest Middle School in Glen Ellyn.

“Students tend to score higher on state achievement tests when access to school libraries is selectively scheduled, when school libraries are managed by credentialed school librarians who are supported by library aides and when school librarians spend more time collaborating with classroom teachers,” said Keith Curry Lance, one of the researchers of the study.
