OCLC MEMBERS COUNCIL ENCOURAGES INCREASED PARTICIPATION,
COOPERATION AT LOCAL TO GLOBAL LEVELS

During its May 18-20 meeting at OCLC headquarters in Dublin,
Ohio, OCLC Members council took steps to encourage broader
participation in the worldwide cooperative discussed ways in
which OCLC can help lead libraries through challenging economic
times, and elected its leadership team for 2003-2004.

SHANGHAI LIBRARY CONSORTIUM PROVIDES ACCESS TO NETLIBRARY EBOOKS

A group of libraries in China has formed a consortium to share
access to a collection of eBooks from netLibrary, a division of
OCLC that offers electronic book collections for academic,
corporate, public and school libraries.

LINDSAY AND HOWES BECOMES AN OCLC PROMPTCAT VENDOR

Lindsay and Howes supplies books published in the United Kingdom
through approval plans and firm orders. Serving academic
libraries throughout the world since 1988, L&H is part of YBP
Library Services. PromptCat automatically provides OCLC-MARC
records and sets holdings in WorldCat for titles identified by
participating materials vendor.

Every 12 seconds an OCLC member library adds a new record to
WorldCat, which contained 49,858,559 unique bibliographic
records, representing 886,145,282 holding locations, as of
May 24, 2003. Every 4 seconds an OCLC member library fills
an interlibrary loan request using WorldCat, which has supported
126,490,593 interlibrary loan requests as of May 24, 2003.
A library user searches WorldCat using the OCLC Firstsearch
service every second.
