First phase of OCLC PAIS Archive now available on FirstSearch

A new retrospective database that chronicles social issues and global public policy, the PAIS Archive provides fast access to social, political and cultural materials published from 1915-1976. It complements the contemporary coverage of PAIS International and provides electronic versions of records previously available only in 62 annually cumulated print editions of the PAIS Bulletin.

The first phase of the archive, which covers 1957-76, is now accessible via the OCLC FirstSearch service. Availability of the full file is projected by year's end.

WorldCat update

Every 12 seconds an OCLC member library adds a new record to WorldCat, which contains more than 55 million records representing 928,688,947 holding locations as of July 3, 2004. Every 4 seconds an OCLC member library fills an interlibrary loan request using WorldCat, which has supported 136,937,600 interlibrary loan requests as of July 3, 2004. A library user searches WorldCat using the OCLC FirstSearch service every second.
