OCLC Newsletter now available in new electronic edition

 

The OCLC Newsletter, OCLC's quarterly membership publication, debuts this issue in a new Web-based format. Now, if you prefer, you can read the Newsletter on your computer with the convenience, speed and searching capabilities that the HTML digital format provides. The Newsletter will still be published and distributed in print format. The OCLC Newsletter has been published continuously since 1967. Its first editor was Frederick G. Kilgour, OCLC's founder and first president.

PAIS Archive coming next year

Subscribe before January 1 to receive a special discount

OCLC Public Affairs Information Service (PAIS) is pleased to announce the upcoming availability of the PAIS Archive, a retrospective database that will contain electronic versions of records previously available only in the 62 annually cumulated print editions of the PAIS Bulletin, 1915-1976. The PAIS Archive will be released on FirstSearch in phases, beginning with years 1957-1976 in Spring 2004, with availability of the full file projected for mid-2004. Contact your OCLC Library Services representative or regional service provider before January 1, 2004 to place an advance order and receive a special discount.

Records for all JSTOR titles in WorldCat Collection Sets

OCLC has recently added three sets of MARC records for JSTOR collections to the WorldCat Collection Sets, making them available for purchase. The sets include the JSTOR Business Collection, the JSTOR Ecology and Botany Collection, and the JSTOR Language & Literature Collection. With these additions OCLC now offers the complete MARC record sets for all JSTOR titles.

WorldCat update

Every 12 seconds an OCLC member library adds a new record to WorldCat, which contains more than 52 million records representing 893,851,227 holding locations as of August 16, 2003. Every 4 seconds an OCLC member library fills an interlibrary loan request using WorldCat, which has supported 128,455,589 interlibrary loan requests as of August 16, 2003. A library user searches WorldCat using the OCLC FirstSearch service every second.
