LOUIS libraries using CONTENTdm to digitize collections in Louisiana
LOUIS:
The Louisiana Library Network is using CONTENTdm™ Digital Collection
Management Software to digitize special collections and make them more
visible and accessible online via the LOUISiana Digital Library. OCLC
is the exclusive distributor to libraries of CONTENTdm, an affordable,
fast, easy and scalable system for building and managing a variety of
digital materials, including photographs, maps and historic
documents. LOUIS is a consortium of 40 Louisiana colleges, universities
and special libraries that provides library automation and licenses full-text
electronic resources.

National Library of Australia uses OCLC open-source software to share digital collections via OAI
The
National Library of Australia is using software developed by OCLC Research
to make its Digital Collections Manager database compliant with the Open
Archives Initiative's (OAI) Protocol for Metadata Harvesting. By supporting
OAI protocols, the library will make bibliographic and technical metadata
available to OAI compliant services and provide greater access to its
unique, digitized materials.

WorldCat update
Every 12 seconds an OCLC member library adds a new record to WorldCat, which contains more than 53 million records representing 897,428,949 holding locations as of October 4, 2003. Every 4 seconds an OCLC member library fills an interlibrary loan request using WorldCat, which has supported 129,757,274 interlibrary loan requests as of October 4, 2003. A library user searches WorldCat using the OCLC FirstSearch service every second.
