Here’s another example of a library’s economic power
Recognizing the impact Seattle’s new Central Library seemed to be having on the city’s economy, the Seattle Public Library and Seattle’s Office of Economic Development contracted with Berk & Associates to assess the economic benefits to Seattle. They found:
-
The library is responsible for $16 million in net new
economic activity in its first full year of operation.
-
The foot traffic and cultural vitality the library brings
enhances the marketability of downtown and nearby
neighborhoods as residential and commercial markets.
-
The library also raises Seattle’s profile and attracts tourists,
knowledge workers and high technology industries.
