More than 2,000 new titles added in the last 60 days

The netLibrary collection now contains 62,500 eBook titles. More than 2,000 new titles have been added since October. To view the new titles or search the complete collection, log in to TitleSelect, a collection development tool that can help streamline your title selection and ordering process. Using the navigation tools at TitleSelect, you can browse new content by subject or publisher, view special collections developed by netLibrary librarians, select titles by searching the complete netLibrary catalog, and place your order online. netLibrary is a division of OCLC.

Report from OCLC Members Council October meeting

Presentations and minutes from the October Members Council meeting are now available on the OCLC Web site. In addition, streaming video is available for viewing and features the reports of Members Council President Bob Seal, Library and Information Technology Consultant Joan Frye Williams, and OCLC President and Chief Executive Officer Jay Jordan.

Active in digital preservation? Take this PREMIS survey on metadata practices in digital preservation repositories

Developed by Preservation Metadata: Implementation Strategies (PREMIS), a working group sponsored by OCLC and RLG, the survey asks about goals and characteristics of digital preservation repositories, various administrative and technical models for digital preservation repositories, and how preservation repositories are encoding, storing and managing their preservation metadata.

The focus of PREMIS is on the practical aspects of implementing preservation metadata in digital preservation systems. The group is examining alternative strategies for implementing preservation metadata, and developing a core set of preservation metadata with wide applicability within the digital preservation community.

Every 12 seconds an OCLC member library adds a new record to WorldCat, which contains more than 53 million records representing 906,498,258 holding locations as of November 29, 2003. Every 4 seconds an OCLC member library fills an interlibrary loan request using WorldCat, which has supported 131,468,434 interlibrary loan requests as of November 29, 2003. A library user searches WorldCat using the OCLC FirstSearch service every second.
