New OCLC program offers custom cataloging and
physical processing through materials vendors

The Cataloging Partners program is OCLC's newest collaborative effort with materials vendors to reduce the cost of high-quality cataloging for libraries. Through the program, OCLC works closely with distributors, importers, booksellers and publishers to provide bibliographic information faster and provide full MARC cataloging at an overall lower rate, especially for non-English and nonbook materials. A library that uses the program receives MARC records from OCLC—edited to its specifications—when a cataloging partner fills its order.

netLibrary 2004 to launch January 14

Based on recent usability testing and customer feedback, netLibrary has re-engineered its site to ensure the highest levels of performance and reliability. Libraries will find important enhancements that offer a more intuitive interface, non-English language capabilities, improved access for users with disabilities and more. Be sure to check out the online demo to be prepared for the January release. A division of OCLC, netLibrary reached a major milestone in November by logging a record 7.5 million page views. Average monthly page views for November 2003 represent a 75% increase compared to November 2002.
