New OCLC program offers custom cataloging and
physical processing through materials vendors
The Cataloging Partners program is OCLC's newest collaborative effort
with materials vendors to reduce the cost of high-quality cataloging for
libraries. Through the program, OCLC works closely with distributors,
importers, booksellers and publishers to provide bibliographic information
faster and provide full MARC cataloging at an overall lower rate, especially
for non-English and nonbook materials. A library that uses the program
receives MARC records from OCLCedited to its specificationswhen
a cataloging partner fills its order.
